First Foundation
As part of Manukau Water’s commitment to facilitate further education within the community, we sponsor students as part of the First Foundation Scholarship.
Manukau Water is proud to announce the first and second recipient’s of our First Foundation Scholarship, Christian Tuimauga from Mangere College (2007) and Silivia Ketu’u from Aorere College (2008).
As part of Manukau Water’s commitment to facilitate further education within the community, we have sponsored two students as part of the First Foundation Scholarship.
The First Foundation Scholarship is based on three core principles:
- Participation in tertiary education
- Completion of tertiary courses
- Entry into full-time employment, at higher income levels following tertiary study
Part of the scholarship entails Manukau Water providing part time employment during the 3 years of tertiary study.
Christian Tuimauga
Christian has now completed year
one in a Bachelors of Arts at AUT and is looking forward to another
successful year in 2010. Christian spent his summer holidays
working in the Customer Services Team alongside Silivia.
Christian impressed us with his commitment to achieve academically and his outlook on life. His leadership qualities are already evident with his rugby captainship and work in the community.
Silivia Ketu’u
Silivia completed her Year 13 year at
Aorere College in 2009 and undertook the role of Deputy Head Girl.
Silvia’s great interest is in science and her dream is to become a
doctor, and we are pleased to announce she has been accepted into
Otago University for 2010. Silivia spent her summer holidays
working in the Customer Service Team alongside Christian.
Silvia impressed us in her initial interview for the First Foundation. She possesses drive and ambition, coupled with a desire to give back to her community. To describe her in one word would be “Inspirational”. She is just so personable, and this attribute will be invaluable to her as a doctor.
